Quick Facts

Largest member of the sea bass family.
Not native to Texas the species but has been stocked in a number of reservoirs.
Fourth most preferred species among licensed Texas anglers.
66 pounder was the largest individual reported from inland waters.
Runs upriver to spawn in April and May.
May reach 10-12 inches in first year.
Fish may live as long as twenty years.
Adults primarily feed on other fish.
