Quick Facts
- Largest member of the sea bass family
- Not native to Texas the species but has been stocked in a number of reservoirs
- Fourth most preferred species among licensed Texas anglers
- 66 pounder was the largest individual reported from inland waters.
- Runs upriver to spawn in April and May
- May reach 10-12 inches in first year
- Fish may live as long as twenty years
- Adults primarily feed on other fish
